My Counseling Philosophy

I practice a collaborative approach to therapy where client and counselor form an interpersonal relationship based on respect and mutual understanding. Once established, this therapeutic relationship serves as the means through which emotional and cognitive growth occur in the client. Each client brings unique personal strengths and challenges to the therapeutic relationship, and we work together to agree upon and develop goals for therapy which fit the specific and diverse needs of each individual.

My approach features genuineness, warmth, and a sense of humor which creates a trusting atmosphere for my clients. Within this authentic atmosphere, my clients have the freedom to express themselves openly and honestly while receiving the support necessary to meet their personal goals.

About me

I am a private mental health practitioner who provides individual, couples, and group counseling, as well as psychotherapy. Specializing in treating clients who struggle with infertility, I have devoted much time to working with such issues as coping with pre-pregnancy blues, which may include depression, anxiety, and stress management, as well as coping with child loss through miscarriage.

I have had the opportunity to work closely with well-known infertility specialists in the Lehigh Valley as well as serve as a past co-chairperson for the Bethlehem chapter of RESOLVE THROUGH SHARING.  Although I choose to specialize in treating issues related to infertility, I also enjoy working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, grief and loss, and stress management. I have enjoyed opportunities in working as an individual and group therapist among college students and enjoy treating client issues specific to this population. I also maintain a committment to the treatment of women’s issues.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in psychology degree from Cedar Crest College and my Master of Education degree, Counseling and Human Services, from Lehigh University. I am a member of several local and nationally recognized psychological associations including the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association. I am a native of the Lehigh Valley and continue to reside there with my husband and children.
